In 2009 he celebrated winning the German championship with VfL Wolfsburg. Now the German Kazakh Sergei Karimov has passed away at the young age of 33.
The VfL Wolfsburg mourns the loss of a former player. As the club announced on Christmas Day 2, former Wolfsburg defender Sergej Karimov died at the young age of 33. The club did not reveal what Karimov died of.

Karimov played a total of five games for VfL Wolfsburg. In 2009 he won the German championship with the wolves. He also played 94 games in the Wolves’ U23. From 2001 to 2011 Karimov was a total player of the works club for ten years.
