Verstappen after fast times in training: ‘Feeling much better than last week’ | NOW

Max Verstappen is happy with how the first two free practice sessions for the Styrian Grand Prix went on Friday. The Dutch driver of Red Bull Racing drove the second and the first time on the Red Bull Ring.

“The feeling with the car was much better this time than last Friday. I was not really happy then, but we have learned a lot in the meantime. We have tried to solve last week’s problems and for now the direction we have chosen seems absolutely the right one, “said Verstappen Sky Sports.

Verstappen only had to tolerate Racing Point driver Sergio Pérez in the first free practice. He was faster in both practice sessions than the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, who were very dominant last week when racing was also held in Austria.

“I don’t know if this is good enough to win on Sunday, we’ll see. It is too early to say where we are compared to Mercedes, but we have taken a step in the right direction. we are therefore quite satisfied “, said Verstappen.

‘I’m on pole for now’

There is even a chance that Verstappen will get pole position through the ‘profit’ of the second free practice. This is the case if the qualification cannot be continued on Saturday due to the forecast severe weather conditions and cannot be overtaken on Sunday prior to the race.

“I’m on pole for the time being,” said Verstappen. “No, first let’s see if we can just do the qualifying tomorrow. And if it doesn’t turn out to be the case, I think the qualification will still be held on Sunday morning.”

The Styrian Grand Prix, which was dubbed the Austrian Grand Prix last week, continues as it stands today with the third free practice on Saturday (12:00 noon) and qualifying (3:00 pm) and concludes with the race on Sunday (3:10 pm) ).
