Verkehr – Berlin – congestion: Bremen in 9th place, Hanover in 23rd place – economy

Munich / Bremen (dpa) – Drivers in Bremen are less likely to be stuck in traffic than other cities. This emerges from data from the navigation provider TomTom, which was published in Munich on Wednesday. With a minus of three percentage points, the congestion value in Bremen dropped above average compared to the other 25 evaluated cities in Germany. Nevertheless, the Hanseatic city took ninth place. It looked better for Hanover, who finished 23rd. The number calculated by TomTom shows how much longer a journey takes because of a traffic jam.

According to the analysis, the increase in traffic is related to the growing population in the metropolitan areas. The data from smartphones and built-in navigation systems for 416 cities worldwide were evaluated for the index.

As in the previous year, the German traffic jam capital was Hamburg (34 percent), followed by Berlin, Wiesbaden, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart. Bonn, Kassel, Bremen and Frankfurt am Main complete the top 10 list of cities in Germany where drivers lose most of their time due to traffic problems.
