Verdugo is ‘conflicted’ with the Dodgers championship

It’s been almost a year in MLB since the super-trade was completed who sent David Price and Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers and Alex Verdugo to the Red Sox. The destinies of both franchises in 2020 were diametrically opposite, with Los Angeles being the World Series champs and the Red Sox being one of the worst teams in the American League.

While Mexican-American Alex Verdugo believes that being in Boston is better for him, it is a bittersweet feeling to know that his former teammates on the Dodgers won the World Series last year, and may have been among the champions, he mentioned to Chris. Cotillo from MassLive.com

I am happy for the boys. It really is a bittersweet feeling because I want to be a champion, I want to have that ring. Things happen for a reason. Coming here, being in Boston and being with this staff and these colleagues, how I get along with the boys and all that, I feel like I fit better here. Here in Boston is where I’m supposed to be.

The truth is that Verdugo can now be the star in a Red Sox in full renovation, where none of the three outfielders who won the World Series in 2018 is already in the team, with Betts, Benintendi and JBJ out of the organization, with the Mexican-American being the spearhead for the future of the organization.
