Venezuela adds 438 infected with COVID-19 this # 10Jan

In the last 24 hours, 438 new cases of COVID-19 for a total of 116,607 infected since the start of the health emergency in the country until this Sunday, January 10.

The Presidential Commission for Prevention and Control of COVID-19 indicated that 424 of the cases are of community spread and 14 imported. Of this last group, 11 come from Turkey, one comes from the Dominican Republic, one from Mexico and one from Argentina. They all entered through La Guaira, Vargas state.

The vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, said that the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (Otherwise) is in talks with the countries in which cases have been detected to reinforce entry protocols.

The possibility of keeping some entities in quarantine is being evaluated, “more for prevention reasons than because we must attend to a specific situation.” There was a decrease in the number of infected in the states of Apure, Carabobo, Lara, Mérida, Vargas and Yaracuy.

On the rise

The highest number of cases was detected in the Capital District with 88. Zulia states with 77, Lara with 70, Miranda with 54, Yaracuy with 34, Nueva Esparta with 26 and Táchira with 21.

Until this first week of 2021, Venezuela has 116,610 people recovered from the respiratory disease and 4,990 are still active.

The president, Nicolás Maduro, announced that this week will be easing quarantine. He asked the security forces to “act with intensity” to guarantee the security of the measure.
