(CNN) — A earthquake magnitude 6.9 shook the Banda Sea. The epicenter was located 220 km southeast of Indonesia, according to the Geological Survey of U.S (USGS, for its acronym in English).
The depth of the quake was 627.3 km at the bottom of the Banda Sea, according to data from the USGS website.
There is no tsunami watch issued at this time by the Pacific Northwest Tsunami Advisory Center (NWPTAC).
Indonesia is in the seismically active “Ring of Fire” of the Pacific and regularly experiences earthquakes.
