Caracas, Jun 22 (EFE) .- Venezuelan authorities detected 1,334 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began in the country to 263,372, reported this Tuesday the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez.

“The Presidential Commission for the Prevention and Control of COVID 19 reports that in the last hours a total of 1,334 new infections were registered in our country (1,317 cases due to community transmission and 17 imported),” said the vice president on Twitter.

He explained that the 17 “imported” are from people from Panama, Mexico and Turkey, while the four entities with the most cases on this day were Barinas with 163 infections, Aragua with 153, Lara with 152 and Caracas with 114.

They are followed by Yaracuy with 113, Nueva Esparta with 112, Anzoátegui with 102, La Guaira with 84, Apure with 72, Miranda with 68, Bolívar with 50, Monagas with 30, Carabobo with 29, Mérida with 21, Guárico with 15, Sucre with 12, Zulia with 11, Táchira with 7, Cojedes and Trujillo with 3 each, Delta Amacuro with 2 and Falcón with 1.

Likewise, it reported on the death of another 16 people as a result of this disease, for which the total of deaths increased to 2,989.

Four of these deaths were registered in Aragua, three in Sucre, another three in Zulia, two in Lara, two more in Apure and one in Miranda and Nueva Esparta, respectively.

According to the Venezuelan Government, of the total confirmed cases, only 16,543 are active, as 243,840 have recovered.

However, the data offered by the authorities are questioned by different unions and the opposition, who denounce that the Government manipulates the numbers of infections and vaccination.

Precisely, on this day the Venezuelan opposition sector headed by Juan Guaidó demanded that a vaccination plan against covid-19 be launched that does not have “political distinction”, since they denounce segregation in immunization.

The opposition Angel Álvarez assured that the vaccination day in the country has been “run over” and asked to be informed about how many people have been vaccinated. EFE
