The Football Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Ferj) decided to innovate and asked for help from Vasco and Flamengo to decide the referee for next Sunday’s classic, in a game valid for the sixth round of the Campeonato Carioca.
Chilean Pablo Galdames arrives in Brazil to reinforce Vasco
Ferj invited club representatives to a meeting that will take place this Friday, at the entity’s headquarters. They will analyze referee resumes and try to reach a consensus on the name. If more than one referee is chosen, there will be a draw open to the press.

“For the Classic of Millions, the Football Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro invited Vasco and Flamengo to a meeting at 2:30 pm at the entity’s headquarters. The Arbitration Department (DEAF-RJ) will present referees’ CVs to the representatives of the clubs that, Once they have this data, they will analyze and indicate names for the draw. If there is consensus among the clubs around a single referee, the draw will be waived, and he will be selected for the match. The draw, if necessary, will be open to the press”.

Vasco felt harmed on more than one occasion. After the draw with Bangu, in the fourth round, he formalized a request for the referee to never referee his games again.
