Variant of Covid-19 Delta Plus Swallows Victim, Indian Woman Dies

JawaPos.com – The world should be wary of Delta Plus variants other than Delta. Although the World Health Organization (WHO) has not declared Delta Plus as a variant of concern, in India this variant has already taken its toll. A 63-year-old woman has died in a hospital in India.

The patient was the city’s first victim of the Delta Plus variant. He died on July 27, 6 days after testing positive for the Delta Plus strain of Corona virus.

Officials said he had several co-morbidities, including diabetes. He was on oxygen support and given steroids and remdesivir.

According to reports, the woman has been fully vaccinated. He was among 7 patients in Mumbai who tested positive for the Delta Plus variant.

The Delta Plus variant of SARS-CoV2 has been detected in more than 90 samples in India so far. The head of the National Centers for Disease Control (NCDC) Sujit Singh, said that the four types of variants were categorized as Delta Plus.

Among these are AY1 (B.1.617.2.1), AY2, AY3, and another sub-lineage in which one more gene has been detected and the only sample is found in Maharashtra. The highest number of 65 samples was detected in Maharashtra, followed by Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
