“It often happened that a customer asked us if he could organize a meeting in the dining room, this is just the formalization of an old practice,” says Véronique Gautier, manager of the Best Western hotel in downtown Vannes (Morbihan). Since November 2023, the Vannes establishments of the hotel group have opened their dining rooms during the day to nomadic workers looking for a coworking space.
According to the hotel manager, this new offer responds to a demand from customers but also from outside. Until now, the service has mainly welcomed people “passing through Vannes” who are looking for a place to work. It is also an opportunity to occupy empty spaces during the day.

Spaces accessible free of charge
“It’s easier because, with our offer, the person does not need to take steps to find or rent a place. And there are no additional costs. » In fact, placing your computer on the table in the dining room is free, even if consumption is expected.
“Between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., the dining room is empty, because there is no lunchtime service, explains Véronique Gautier. However, we offer a catering offer specifically for coworkers. »

Full-day or half-day exhibitions
At the Mercure hotel, located on the port of Vannes, it is the same operation. The establishment also offers the possibility of renting an individual office or meeting rooms. “We rent rooms of 20 to 25 m² for the day or half-day,” intended for interviews or videoconference meetings.
“We decided to put this in place because our biggest activity is welcoming professionals, seminars or corporate meals,” explains Marion Gilbert, from the sales department.
