Marc Marquez rumored to be following Valentino Rossi by deciding to retire after MotoGP 2021 after the Repsol Honda racer was said to have suffered a serious injury ahead of the race MotoGP Valencia 2021.
Marquez missed the Algarve MotoGP race, last weekend, after having an accident while undergoing practice. Honda said Marquez was forced to miss a minor concussion injury.
Ahead of the Valencia MotoGP, Marquez’s condition is still a mystery. Until now, Repsol Honda has not confirmed the participation of the six-time MotoGP world champion at the Valencia MotoGP.
Quoted from Speedweek, the actions of the closed Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) regarding Marquez’s condition gave rise to unpleasant rumors about the career of the Spaniard.
Marquez is claimed to have suffered an injury worse than a mild concussion. Even news emerged that Marquez could retire after MotoGP 2021 following in the footsteps of Valentino Rossi.
“Of paddock and media center at the MotoGP Algarve, there is speculation that the six-time MotoGP world champion [Marquez] it will not return to the Grand Prix track,” wrote Speedweek.
This is not the first time Marquez has been hit by rumors of retiring. When he suffered a severe injury after an accident at the Spanish MotoGP, July 2020, Marquez was said to be retiring.
It takes a long time for Marquez to be able to return to racing, which is nine months when comeback in MotoGP Portugal this season. After a long absence, Marquez took a long time to get back on his feet before successfully taking three wins in MotoGP this season.
Honda itself has not yet responded to rumors that Marquez will retire. HRC seems calm with Marquez’s condition even though it has not released the latest information, especially Marquez still has a contract until 2024.
