An 81-year-old woman was hit by a motorist on Saturday morning in Sion (VS) as she crossed the road on a pedestrian crossing. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

KEYSTONE
A motorist hit a pedestrian crossing Ritz Avenue in Sion (VS) on the pedestrian crossing on Saturday morning around 8:45 am. The 81-year-old woman was seriously injured.
The paramedics and a team from the Mobile Emergency Resuscitation Service (SMUR) provided on-site care. The victim was then transported to Sion hospital by ambulance, the Valais cantonal police said in a statement.
The two people involved in the accident are from Valais and live in central Valais. The driver is 86 years old.
The prosecution has opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident.
