The first tests, on mice and hamsters, with the nasal spray vaccine on which the Dutch Intravacc is working, yield hopeful results. But it is too early to draw any conclusions about the vaccine’s success in humans. “This requires even more data, for example on safety and the immune response,” says Ghent vaccinologist Geert Leroux-Roels. A vaccine that is administered through the nose could provide some benefits.
