What to generate new recruitments? “Some departmental fire and rescue services will undoubtedly strengthen their health service,” said Patrick Hertgen, vice-president of the National Federation of firefighters of France. But the financial constraints are such that we should not expect a dramatic increase. The nurses of professional firefighters (SPP) currently represent a tiny minority of the workforce: 7,843 nurses out of 253,000 firefighters. And among them, more than 95% are volunteers.
