Utrecht at the bottom of the list of trees per inhabitants

Utrecht does not score high in the ranking where Dutch municipalities are classified according to the number of trees per inhabitants. Utrecht has about 0.5 tree per inhabitant. With that, there are only a few places in the Netherlands that score worse.

Greenery provides cooling and is good for the quality of life in a city. For every Utrecht, there is about half a tree in the city, according to Cobra Groeninzicht. This company has ranked all 355 municipalities. Utrecht is number 348.

Rozendaal is lonely at the top, there are 128 trees for every inhabitant. Westerveld is in second place, with 42.9 trees. They are mainly municipalities with few inhabitants where they have a relatively large number of trees. Apeldoorn also scores well among the medium-sized municipalities, more than 160,000 people live there and everyone has 11.4 trees.

The four large municipalities all do not score high. Utrecht and Rotterdam both have 0.5 tree per inhabitant, The Hague 0.4 tree per inhabitant and Amsterdam has 0.3 tree per inhabitant.
