The search for possible other victims continues, although no one is missing.
In Farmerville, several homes were destroyed or damaged, local authorities said. At least twenty residents were injured, some seriously. “This is the worst damage I’ve seen in 17 years,” a police spokesman told CNN.
Images and videos show collapsed buildings and uprooted electricity poles.
In the neighboring state of Texas, the Weather Service counted at least five tornadoes. Seven people were injured in the Dallas area and north of the city, police said.
Winter storm warnings circulate in other states. More than three feet of snow fell in Nevada and Idaho, the weather service said. In South Dakota, several roads are closed due to snow and ice covering them.
