USA: Trump and Biden campaign in Minnesota

(Reuters) – Donald Trump, the U.S. president, and his Democratic presidential opponent, Joe Biden, are both heading to Minnesota this Friday, where early voting begins ahead of the Nov. 3 poll.

Distanced in the polls, Donald Trump will try to convince the voters of this Midwestern state where the Democrats narrowly won in 2016.

The latest opinion polls, however, suggest a very large victory for Joe Biden, who is ahead of the outgoing president by ten points according to RealClear Politics, a political news site that aggregates the results of various studies.

Joe Biden’s lead illustrates the ascendancy his campaign seems to be taking just over two months into the election, especially with the Labor electorate turning their backs on Hillary Clinton’s candidacy four years ago.

The latest polls put the Democratic candidate at the top of voting intentions in the three states of the “Rust Belt”, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, all affected to varying degrees by the consequences of industrial decline .

Donald Trump, who did not have the favor of pollsters in 2016, goes this Friday to Bemidji where he will deliver a speech in the evening on the tarmac at the local airport. Earlier, Joe Biden will have visited a vocational training center in Duluth where he will then speak to voters in Minnesota.

It is from this state that the Black Lives Matter movement regained power in the wake of the death of George Floyd, a resident of Minneapolis killed by police officers who arrested him.

His death sparked protests that sometimes turned into rioting and led to a violent crackdown encouraged by Donald Trump, who has since presented himself as the candidate for “law and order.”
