Housing starts in the United States rose 22.6% in July compared to June, a third month of strong increase after the drop linked to containment, according to data from the Commerce Department released Tuesday.

This is much more than the 1.230 million expected by analysts.
Housing starts are up for the third month in a row after plunging in March and April due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In detail, the first stone was laid for 940,000 individual houses (+ 8.2%), and for 547,000 buildings.
Last year’s level was also caught up, as housing starts were 23.4% higher than in July 2019.
Building permits, a leading indicator of the real estate market, are also up sharply, by 18.8% compared to June and 9.4% compared to July 2019.
