Beyond a couple of wasted chances by Hirving Lozano and Jesús Corona in the first half, the Mexican national team was clearly outmatched in every way.
By dint of intensity, the United States won the battle in midfield, where the trident made up of Yunus Musah, Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie was full.
Musah, an 18-year-old who plays for Valencia in Spain, created the first goal by passing the ball to Tim Weah from the right. Weah, the son of George Weah – Liberia’s president and former Milan star – set up the center as Pulisic headed down off Johan Vásquez.

McKennie, who was removed from the national team for two games in September for breaking COVID-19 protocols, scored the second goal after exchanging passes with Jesús Ferreira.
McKennie will not be able to play against Jamaica next Tuesday due to accumulation of cards after receiving a warning at 68 for claiming the referees for a foul on Aaronson.
