Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20 Devices Downgraded in Update Catalog, No Longer Receiving Monthly Security Updates

Samsung “downgraded” the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 line within its update catalog, causing the devices no longer receive monthly security packages.

According to the Korean manufacturer, all devices must now only be updated quarterly. In other words, after the March update, they should only receive the next security fixes in three months.

The complete list of smartphones includes 4G and 5G variants and even Ultra options, check it out:

An important detail of this change is that Samsung will continue to support the S20 and Note 20 lines for longer, even though the promise of updates was only four years.

Still, everyone should stop receiving any software support in early 2025, as the next step is direct migration to the semi-annual schedule.

After the deadline, they should only receive updates in case of critical vulnerabilities in Android or One UI. Generally, these updates are considered extraordinary.

On another front, Samsung is expected to expand the distribution of the April security package to compatible smartphones starting today.
