Usa 2020, the Rolling Stones against Trump: “Don’t use our music in your rallies” – La Stampa

WASHINGTON. The Rolling Stones have ordered the American president, Donald Trump, to stop using their songs in his rallies or for his election campaign. The move away after Trump’s campaign used the song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” at last week’s rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The same song was used by Trump’s first campaign for the 2016 American election. Even then the band tweeted “The Rolling Stones don’t support Donald Trump.” But the tug of war now risks becoming a legal battle.

The team of lawyers from the British group has announced that it is working with the entertainment rights organization, the IMC, to stop the unauthorized use of their music. “Further steps to prevent Trump from using the Rolling Stones’ material in future presidential campaigns became necessary after previous” requests and directives “had been ignored. Reportedly, the IMC has notified the Trump campaign on behalf of the Stonesche that the use of their songs without authorization will constitute a violation of the license agreement and will be subject to legal action. In recent days, the family of the late musician Tom Petty had formally warned Trump not to use the song “I Won’t Back Down” in his campaign.
