US Tourist Beaten in Dublin: Family Seeks Help to Fund Medical Treatment

Jakarta

A United States (US) tourist was beaten by local residents (warlok) while on vacation. The tourists are barely able to afford treatment costs.

Quoted from BBC, Tuesday (25/7/2023), the incident was stated by his son, Mike Rizzuto. The father, Stephen Termini, is currently in intensive care at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital. Sadly, Stephen is alone with no family in Ireland.

Stephen, who is 57 years old and originally from Buffalo, New York, vacationed in Dubin, Ireland last week. Instead of being happy he was even seriously injured after being kicked and beaten by a group of youths on Dublin’s Store Street on Wednesday (19/7) night.

At the time of the incident, Stephen had just left his lodging near Talbot Street.

A teenage boy, who cannot be named because of his age, is suspected of being the perpetrator of the violence. The alleged perpetrator was detained and is scheduled to attend a hearing at the Children’s Court on Thursday (27/7).

Mike said his father went alone to Dublin. Actually, Mike wants to accompany his father, but their money is not enough.

Stephen travels to Dublin with the money he has saved.

“We feel powerless right now,” Mike said.

“Our trip will cost a lot of money on plane tickets and we have no other way and plan, except to raise funds through GoFundMe,” he said.

Mike emphasized how their family was just a mediocre family. In fact, they didn’t have enough money to bury their grandmother’s ashes in Ireland.

“My grandmother’s ashes were scattered in Ireland in 2002 and she couldn’t get there at the time,” said Mike.

His grandfather also lived in Ireland. He is a mural painter in Ireland.

Mike also said that Ireland was everything for his father. Irish music and culture was still taught by his father to Mike.

“The last time I spoke to him he was saving every penny, doing odd jobs to get to Ireland,” Mike said.

“He talked about playing music in Ireland. That’s where he wanted to be, so it really sucks what happened to him,” she added.

Until now Termini is in intensive care at the Beaumont Hospital Dublin.

The problem of security on the streets of Dublin is being highlighted. Reportedly, the streets in Dublin are dark at night because of the lack of lights.
