This Washington state man had a guardian angel. A guardian angel named JP Benitez! The deputy sheriff rushed to his aid when he was pinned unconscious in a burning car. According to CNN reports, a drug overdose caused the man to lose consciousness and was helpless at the mercy of the situation. Luckily, Benitez was in the right place at the right time. You can see the dramatic rescue operation, which was captured by bodycam, in our video.
Heroic effort in a supermarket parking lot
JP Benitez is the officer to whom the man owes his life. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office released video of Benitez’s heroic action on Wednesday. The officer told CNN that he accidentally drove past the burning SUV in a supermarket parking lot. “As I got closer to the car, I noticed a figure in the front seat,” Benitez said. Without hesitation, he took the initiative to pull the man out of the burning car. (lkr)
