The US is reportedly hunting for Soviet S-300s for delivery to Ukraine. Foto/missilesthreat.csis.org
This is how the US news agency CNN reported, citing a source familiar with the matter who was quoted as saying: SputnikTuesday (15/3/2022).
The source further pointed out that Washington is unsure at what time they will get their hands on the missiles used by the S-300. This missile defense system is the latter only produced by defense companies Russia .
The Biden administration has faced requests from Congress to send various Soviet-made heavy military equipment to Ukraine, including the aforementioned S-300 system, as well as MiG-29 fighter jets.
“The White House should work with allies and partners, not only in Europe but potentially around the world, who are in a position to deliver more munitions for things like the S-300 or other advanced air defense systems that we can work on reloading.” (Ukraine’s) own capabilities,” an unnamed Senate Republican aide told CNN.
The Pentagon itself has closed Poland’s proposal to send 28 MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine via the US, saying the idea was untenable because of the risk of provoking open conflict with Russia.
