The US Department of Foreign Affairs refuses to extradite diplomatess Anne Sacoolas to the UK, the BBC Friday morning. Sacoolas is being prosecuted in the UK for the death of 19-year-old Harry Dunn.
The United States believes that the extradition of Sacoolas damages the value of diplomatic immunity.
Sacoolas collided at the end of August in the English county of Northamptonshire with her car against Dunn’s engine. The man died shortly after the accident.
The woman told the police that they wanted to cooperate fully with the investigation and had no plans to leave the country. A short time later she went back to her home country, where she still resides.
The UK asked the US to revoke the diplomatic immunity of Sacoolas and to extradite it, but the US refuses. Parliamentarian Andrea Leadsom, from the constituency of the van Dunn family, will have a conversation with the American ambassador to the United Kingdom on Friday.
