Where to buy tickets for the US Open 2022?

The US Open is one of the four major Grand Slam tournaments each year along with the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon. Even if the tennis complex in Flushing Meadows Park includes numerous courts, the tickets for the big matches are quickly booked up every year. Ticket sales for the US Open 2022 have already started. By the time the tournament starts on August 29th, all tickets are usually sold out. So if you want a ticket, you have to be quick.

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster, the official shop of the US Open, and via the secondary market. Depending on the tournament round, stadium and block of seats, the prices per ticket vary. Tickets can only be reserved for the three largest stadiums.

  • Arthur Ashe Stadium (23,000 seats): The largest stadium on the railing. Tennis stars like Rafael Nadel, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic play in the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Here there are reserved seats only.
  • Louis Armstrong Stadium (14,000 seats): The second largest stadium in the Bille Jean King Tennis Center. Reserved seating is the only way to get the best pitchside seats. General seating is only available in the upper tiers.
  • Grandstand Stadium (8,000 seats): Here too the seats must be reserved directly at the edge of the field. All other seating is freely accessible to visitors to the tennis court.

Seats closer to the pitch tend to be the most expensive, while higher up the corners are the cheapest. In order to be able to better assess how good the viewing opportunities are, the US Open online shop offers a digital 360-degree view for each seat.

If all tickets have been sold, there is the option of using the secondary market. Those who want to stay away from flimsy offers and possible scams should continue to buy their tickets for the US Open through Ticketmaster. Verified resellers are also offered there. The price is usually two to three times higher and only in rare cases cheaper than before. For a seat in a good location at the final of the US Open 2022, the resale price is currently between 6,000 and 10,000 euros.

US Open 2022: Buy a ticket without a reservation

If you don’t want to reserve a seat, you can purchase a “Grounds Admission” for $80. Offered for the first eight days of the 2022 US Open, this ticket allows entry to the grounds of the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center from 9:30am. Customers may use all unreserved seats on the courts on a first-come basis.

A “Single Session Ticket” offers you the same options as a “Grounds Admission” and allows you to reserve an additional seat for a stadium of your choice. Buyers can then watch all games for one day. So if you want to see the big names like Nadal, Federer, Djokovic or Daniil Medvedev play in addition to the small courts, the “Single Session Ticket” is the right choice. (aa)
