US Investigate Death of 5 Children Related to Mysterious Hepatitis, Sure Not because of the Covid-19 Vaccine

WASHINGTON DC, KOMPAS.com – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) The US said on Friday (6/5/2022), it is investigating 109 cases of related children mysterious hepatitisincluding five reported deaths.

“Investigators both here (US) and overseas and around the world are working hard to determine the cause,” said Jay Butler, deputy director of communicable diseases for the CDC. AFP.

The CDC reports 90 percent of cases of acute hepatitis found in children involve hospitalization, with 14 percent requiring a liver transplant. The majority make a full recovery.

The CDC issued a health warning last week telling doctors and public health authorities to be on the lookout for similar cases, and to begin checking case histories until October 1, 2021.

More than half of the cases tested positive for adenovirus 41, a virus usually associated with gastroenteritis, but not hepatitis in otherwise healthy children.

“Because there is a link to an adenovirus, I would call it the top virus on the list of important viruses,” Butler said.

“But we don’t know whether the adenovirus itself is causing the cases, or whether there is an immune reaction to this type of adenovirus.”

Butler said environmental factors are also being examined by the CDC, such as the presence of animals in the home, as well as whether other pathogens, such as Covid-19, might play a role in the development of mysterious hepatitis in children.

Cases of adenovirus may only appear after lockdown Covid-19 stopped its spread for several years, or the adenovirus may have evolved into a newer and more dangerous strain.

However, the CDC says it doesn’t believe the Covid-19 vaccination is to blame.

Nine cases in Alabama investigated in depth were among children with a median age of 2 years, too young for a Covid-19 vaccination.
