The athlete Luis Felipe Olivares began the international activities of Peruvian Muay Thai with a triumph, by defeating the Algerian Houssem Fezazi in the main fight of the ‘Siam Combat Series’ event, which took place on Saturday, January 27 in the city of Alicante, Spain .
The member of the Athlete Support Program (PAD) of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), won by unanimous decision of the judges, in the 68 kg category of the Professional Muay Thai modality.
“The rival was quite tall and attacked with kicks, I neutralized them anyway and imposed my conditions. I didn’t find the fist distance so much and I was able to dominate, I felt comfortable. Now I must travel to Bangkok, Thailand, to do a two-month training base with Joaquín Fernández (also Peruvian) and prepare for the South American Championship in Brazil, which will be from April 5 to 8,” he said.
Olivares also commented that between the end of February and the beginning of March he will have fights, as his goal is to seek the podium in the South American Championship.
