US “Horrified” with Hundreds of Victims Killed in Myanmar Demonstrations

WASHINGTON DC, KOMPAS.com – Government AS admitted “horrified” by the hundreds the dead victim in the demonstrations that took place in Myanmar.

The demonstration that took place on Saturday (27/3/2021) was the bloodiest day since the military staged a coup on February 1.

At least 114 people were shot dead Myanmar apparatus, which occurred in 44 cities and towns throughout the country.

“The military junta is ready to sacrifice many lives for the sake of the few,” slammed US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Quoted AFP, Blinken admitted to being “horrified” by the bloodshed by local police and soldiers.

“The brave people of Burma (Myanmar’s old name) have rejected a terrorist military rule,” he said.

Earlier, the U.S. Embassy said unarmed protesters were killed in commemoration of Armed Forces Day.

Meanwhile the European Union delegation stressed the warning will forever be remembered as a “day full of terror and disgrace”.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was surprised, and British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said there was a “new downturn” there.

Reported BBC, the victims who died opposing the Tatmadaw leadership, the name of the military junta, also involved children.

“They killed us like chickens or birds,” said Thu Ya Zaw, a Myingyan resident Reuters.

With 114 people killed in Saturday’s clashes, the death toll since the February 1 protests exceeded 400.

The junta took over the country after accusing the National League for Democracy (NLD) party of rigging in the November 2020 elections.

They arrested a number of political figures, including Aung San Suu Kyi, and tried them on various charges.

What happened on Saturday?

Previously, state television said that people should “learn from past tragedies”.

State media said protesters could be in danger of being shot in the back or in the head.

Even so, the masses still took to the streets in various areas, where they faced Myanmar authorities.

In the circulating pictures, a number of demonstrators suffered gunshot wounds and their families mourned them.

Director of the Burma Human Rights Network, Kyaw Win, said Tatmadaw showed absolutely no mercy.

“This usdah is no longer a form of repression against the masses. They carried out massacres,” explained Kyaw.

The military did not comment on the shootings at all, especially on important days such as Armed Forces Day.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, leader of the coup, stated that they wanted to “join hands with other countries in safeguarding democracy”.

“Actions of violence that threaten stability and security for the sake of fulfilling demands are totally unacceptable,” he said.
