Upper league to district class: This is how the tables look according to the quotient rule

The NFV is already planning an extraordinary association day, which is necessary to end the current season at this point. A termination of the season has not yet been laid down in the statutes. If this happens, there are three scenarios: the complete cancellation of the season, an evaluation of the current status without relegation, only with promoters and thirdly an evaluation of the season taking into account the quotient regulation. At least in handball, the number of games was divided by the points, in football there are other considerations as to how the quotients could be determined. A decision could be made on Monday in a video conference in which the NFV Presidium and representatives of the 33 circles participate. The variant with a quotient rule is probably the fairest in terms of sport, but it also has some pitfalls.

While the MTV Gifhorn and Lupo / Martini Wolfsburg in the Oberliga don’t have to worry (both would end the season according to the quotient rule and taking into account the current status in midfield), things look different in the Landesliga. SV Reislingen / Neuhaus is currently eleventh, but would slip down to 14th place due to the quotient of 1.0 – and descend. The TuSpo Petershütte has the same quotient, but would pass the SVR due to the direct comparison (2: 0). “This quotient rule is anything but fair,” said Reislingen coach José Salguero. “In the past we almost only had away games. If it turns out to be the most unfair scenario for us.”

An overview: This is the status quo for Germany’s national associations. As of May 21, 2020.

Schleswig-Holstein: It remains to be seen whether they will walk on ice. One thing is clear: The Presidium of the Schleswig-Holstein Football Association (SHFV) has decided that the 2019/2020 season should not be extended beyond June 30th. Instead, it will expire without further play. In other words, it has been canceled. “The decision gives our clubs the best possible planning security,” SHFV President Uwe Döring is quoted on the association’s website.

On May 9, the Presidium finally decided to evaluate the season using the quotient rule. There are two promotions, but no relegations. If a team waives promotion, the right of promotion is not passed on. The pending district cup games are to be played as regional qualifying rounds before the start of the next season. In the case of women and juniors, however, only the relay winners rise, there are also no relegations.

Trouble would also be inevitable at SSV Kästorf if the NFV opted for this demolition scenario. Third, Georgios Palanis’ team played two games less than leaders SVG Göttingen and three less than second-placed Vahdet Braunschweig. With two more wins, the SSV could jump to first place. According to the quotient rule, Kästorf would only be second. “If this happens, it would be extremely bitter for us and difficult to digest. If you did not get the number of games, you will fall behind,” says Palanis, whose team has not only won twice against Vahdet, but also so far only season game against Primus Göttingen. “If so, teams may be champions who have lost their top games. They’re only up because they have more games.”

SV Calberlah in the district league would also have reason to curse. In the quotient table, the SVC passes SV Gifhorn, but has the same quotient as leader TSG Mörse (2,333). However: Calberlah has made three games less and could take first place with three wins. The direct duel won the TSG 2: 2 and 4: 1 and would be the champions.

There are always winners and losers, and if we were the losers, we would have to accept it that way“says SVC trainer Stefan Timpe and adds:” The quotient rule is probably the fairest and takes into account most of the parameters. If this would make Mörse up front, then they would have earned it because of the direct comparison. “

Mörse’s coach Thomas Orth had already calculated. “I would like to continue the season, but it would be the sportiest option for me from the dropout scenarios,” says the coach and shows himself fair. “I could also imagine playing a promotion game against Calberlah if we can play again. But due to the training regulations, this will currently be difficult to implement“Timpe would be happy to directly suggest an alternative:” Otherwise we could also take a penalty shoot-out, because we are at a distance. “

However it is decided, it will not satisfy all teams. Ralf Thomas, chairman of the NFV district Gifhorn, had anticipated this before. “I didn’t have the quotient table so clearly in my head, but I always said we would lose when we quit. It was clear to me that there would be problems. This puts us in need unnecessarily. I’m still in favor of continuing the season at a later date. “

This is how the quotient tables look, the current table position is in brackets:
