“Unvisited Landlord Makes Dreadful Discovery Years Later in UK Rented Property”

If the rent is coming into the account on time every month, landlords are unlikely to visit the rented house or household. Thus, an unvisited landlord found the remains of a tenant’s body years later. The incident took place in the UK. Six years later, the tenant’s remains were found when he went to check the gas connection.

Robert Alton was 76 years old when he died in May 2017. But on March 9 this year, his body was found in a flat in Bolton, UK. The house is owned by Bolton at Home Housing Company, which has over 18,000 homes across the city.

Bolton at Home CEO Noel Sharp said of the incident, “It should not have happened.” Unfortunately Robert has no relatives to report or say anything like that. And his rent was due every month under the housing benefit scheme. Therefore, the owner of the house did not know that Robert had died.

“The incident has come as a huge shock to everyone at Bolton at Home and we understand that the fact that his body was left undiscovered for so long must have caused concern and distress for people. What should not have happened happened. “We will try to prevent incidents like this,” said Sharp. Sharp said that he had tried to contact Robert several times to share some information about the gas connection.
