Without self-isolation against Covid-19, unvaccinated residents will be able to come to Latvia from only six European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries, according to the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC).

Self-isolation of unvaccinated residents will not have to be observed upon arrival in Latvia from the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and the Vatican.

SPKC data show that the 14-day cumulative rate of Covid-19 morbidity per 100,000 population in Latvia is currently 115.2, but a week ago it was 85.1.

When entering Latvia from a country where the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population exceeds 75, it is mandatory to observe 10-day self-isolation. The self-isolation time may be reduced if the test is repeated on the seventh day and is negative. The test result must be recorded in the test certificate. Self-isolation may be waived by persons with an interoperable vaccination or disease certificate.

Children under the age of 12 (until 1 September 2021 – also other minors) traveling with adults who are exempt from the requirement of self-isolation may disregard self-isolation. However, in such cases, children do not make close contacts with persons outside their household for 10 days after leaving the high-risk country, do not attend public events, children’s groups, do not use public transport.
