The association Chemin de fer tourisme sud Touraine (CFTST), which restores old railcars to put them back into circulation, is heading for Brittany in June 2022. The date of June 12 should be remembered in particular, because for the first times in 40 years, a railcar ride Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) – Pontivy (Morbihan) will be carried out.
Cet Express for Napoleonville (Pontivy), with railcar and trailer, will leave Rennes at 8.25 a.m., will pass by redon (9 h 03), Valves (9 h 33), auray (9 h 53) then will cross the valley of Blavet de Lambel-Camors to Pontivy station. This last portion has already been known for a year with the commissioning of the small tourist train Pontivy – Lambel-Camors. However, it is indeed a first passenger train from Rennes which is announced and which should delight a good number of Pontivyens.
A coach from Auray to Lambel-Camors
In detail, if the railcar can continue its route on the whole route, it cannot yet take passengers on the Auray – Lambel-Camors section. This is why these few kilometers must be done by coach. Then passengers can take the railcar back to Pontivy. Arrival at the station is scheduled shortly before noon.
As regards the return trip, departure from Pontivy station is set at 2:30 p.m. for arrivals in Auray at around 3:38 p.m. and 5:38 p.m. in Rennes.
Other emblematic Breton routes
The CFTST Autorails de Touraine association has already prepared various rail circuits for exploring Brittany during the month of June.
On June 4, she proposes to embark on a complete tour of Brittany. The next day, June 5, the course will be set for Saint-Malo. A few days later, on June 8, it was a Rennes-Lorient by railcar which is on the program. Saturday June 11, it’s a Rennes-Quiberon which is on the agenda, with the famous Auray-Quiberon portion (made by Le Tire-Bouchon in summer).
