The European Commission publishes in its official register the notified scheme of state aid “Assistance for co-financing of insurance premiums at insurance of agricultural production in sector “Plant breeding“. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food foresees its implementation until the end of 2025, after which a similar scheme under the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas for the period 2023-2027 will enter into force.
The purpose of the aid is to encourage micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, farmers, producers of cereals, oilseeds, essential oil and medicinal crops, fruits, vegetables and tobacco to voluntarily insure agricultural production against an adverse climatic event that can be equated of natural disaster, and other adverse climatic events.
The aid is provided to the farmers through payment by the state of a part of the insurance premiums under concluded insurance policies for the insurance of agricultural production for the relevant season.

The scheme will be launched after approval of guidelines and resource for 2024 by the Management Board of the State Fund “Agriculture”.
