Until July 2023, PLN will distribute electricity to 51 villages in Sulselrabar

FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR — There are 51 villages in the provinces of South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and West Sulawesi (Sulselrabar) that have only had electricity until July 2023. There are around 2,593 customers in total.

General Manager of PT PLN (Persero) Main Distribution Unit for South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and West Sulawesi (UID Sulselrabar), Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin is optimistic that the presence of electricity can improve the standard of living and the economy of the people in the 3T areas.

He said that the heroic struggle of PLN officers to bring electricity to remote areas was not easy, one of which was in Lempe Hamlet, Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province.

“In order to mobilize materials to that location, PLN officers are not alone. We are grateful to the community for helping PLN officers carry a pole weighing 300 kilograms through two suspension bridges 50 meters long which can only be traversed on foot,” said Andy.

In addition, said Andy, even though access to material delivery is quite difficult and not possible by land, the enthusiasm of the PLN officers has not subsided. “PLN officers even made a raft to mobilize the pole across the river in Akkotengeng Village, Wajo Regency,” said Andy.

Andy detailed that in order to distribute electricity to these villages and hamlets, PLN built a Medium Voltage Network (JTM) of 177.1 circuit kilometers (kms), a Low Voltage Network (JTR) of 158.1 kms, and 88 units of distribution substations with a total capacity of 4,650 kilo Volt Ampere (kVA). He added that until May 2023, the electrification ratio in Sulselrabar had reached 99.73 percent, while the ratio of electrified villages had reached 100 percent.
