At 84 (soon 85), Woody Allen has not lost his magic touch. In this 48e frankly nice feature film, it revives the charm of its New York classics (Manhattan, Annie Hall, etc.). In the skin of a young neurotic intellectual, the Franco-American Timothée Chalamet embodies a typically “Allenian” hero. Woody Allen also offers himself some tasty nods to today’s Hollywood by staging in particular a disillusioned filmmaker embodied by Liev Schreiber. The result is an imperfect film, but oh so pleasing!
