Unprecedented Rush of Devotees at 91st Sivagiri Pilgrimage

Sivagiri: The suburbs of Sivagiri became Peethasagar when Sri Narayana Gurubhaktas flocked to worship the Gurudeva tripadams dressed in Peetavastras. Sivagiri saw an unprecedented rush of devotees yesterday, the second day of the 91st Sivagiri Pilgrimage.

Today is the Dedication Day of Gurudeva Pratima in Mahasamadhi Mandir. At 8 o’clock in the morning there will be special samaradhana and Pashpakalasabhisheka. Pilgrims from different parts of the state have been reaching Sivagiri since early yesterday morning. Padayatras led by women also came in large numbers. Vehicular traffic became impossible as pilgrims thronged the main road from Railway Station Road to Mahasamadhi. Devotees reached the Mahasamadhi en masse chanting Narayana mantras and chanting Deivadasaka hymns with devotion. Sree Narayaniyar renewed Gurusmarana while meditating on Pancharanamal in Samadhivalap. Apart from the Mahasamadhi, the Gurubhaktas moved past the Saradam Math and the Vaidika Math. As dusk fell, the flow of people became unmanageable. As the weather was clear and it was a Sunday, devotees from faraway places were reaching Sivagiri by train and buses since morning.

Amid chanting of ‘Om Namo Narayanaya’, the devotees escorted the decorated Gurudeva rickshaw.The procession circled the Shivagiri grounds and Maidan and returned to the Mahasamadhi.
