Unknown Substance Found in Oslo Apartment: Police, Fire Service, and Health Conduct Ongoing Operation

The police, fire service and health have an ongoing operation at Bøler in Oslo.

– A person says that he got a liquid substance on his arm, and felt unwell afterwards. This must have happened inside an apartment. We work on the basis that it is an unknown substance and we take into account that it can be harmful, says operations manager Line Skott.

– It has been assessed that it is only the apartment itself that we need to clear, and that no one nearby is in danger, she says.

They have put on protective equipment in connection with the mission.

– AMK received a call from a man who had got a substance on his skin. We don’t want to say which substance, one is particularly toxic, says task leader Tore Barstad to Dagbladet.

– This had happened a few hours ago. The person was very worried. Then the device was started, he says.

The person has been taken out of the apartment.

What happens now is that we go through the entire apartment. We have a quick test that can give us an indication of what to do next. FFI has been contacted and they have opened their rapid laboratory.

– The components we have found at the site are consistent with what is needed to make a dangerous substance.

The police are working from a hypothesis that the drug was produced in the apartment.

– You cannot buy this in any way in a regular shop.

– A quick test will be taken in the apartment which can give an indication of what kind of substance this is. It will take some time before we get an answer to this, reports the police.

The person must have got the liquid substance on him a few hours ago.

Three people who have been in the apartment are being looked after by health.

PST informed about the case. VG reports that a safe zone has been set up around the apartment, and neighbors are not allowed to walk in the common areas. The apartment in question is isolated.

– We received a phone call from a reporter who says that he has gotten a substance on him, which we describe as extremely toxic and very dangerous. When you get such telephone inquiries, there are procedures for how he should be cleaned and taken to hospital, says task leader Tore Barstad to VG.

Police operations manager Line Skott says that there is no danger to people in the area around the apartment in question.
