Washington Resident Commissioner Jennifer González clarified doubts about the eligibility of Puerto Rico residents for the federal incentive of $ 1,200 for the coronavirus emergency.
“Once the Treasury approves next week, that money begins to be deposited,” said the official in an interview with Metro, about the incentive for individuals that will be done through the Department of the Treasury.
Individuals with incomes less than $ 75,000 a year will receive $ 1,200, and marriages making $ 150,000 or less a year will qualify for $ 2,400. Meanwhile, the federal government will award $ 500 for each dependent child.
This last requirement caused doubts in Metro readers, who keep older university students at home.
On this money, the commissioner clarified that the elderly dependents who still live with their parents will not receive the incentive, since other aid has been determined for it.

The secretary of the Department of the Treasury, Francisco Parés, detailed yesterday that electronic notifications will be sent over the weekend to the first citizens who will receive the money. These will be those who filed the 2019 return, while those who filed the 2018 return will be part of the second phase of payments.
