The tobacconists French will sell masks to prevent the spread of
coronavirus, their confederation announced this Thursday, promising to respond “now” to protection needs.
“The network of 24,000 tobacconists supports the progressive deconfinement to come by giving the population access to protective masks,” said the Confederation of tobacconists in a statement.
An operation planned for May 11
The Parisian, who previously relayed the information, mentioned a unit price of around five euros. But the confederation clarified to AFP that this price was only indicative. “The tobacconists can come to the aid of the population and meet the needs to protect themselves now,” she said in her statement.
The operation, which is part of the start of deconfinement planned by the government for May 11, is part of a partnership with a French group, Chargeurs. “The masks offered for sale will in particular be from the Lainière Santé brand – from the laboratories of the Chargeurs Group,” the organization said.
The widespread use of the mask is, according to many specialists, crucial to prevent the virus from spreading again during deconfinement. The government announced on Thursday thatit would be particularly imposed in public transport.
