The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS, for its acronym in English) said on Saturday May 9, 2020 that it will allow the health departments of each state in the country to distribute the drug. remdesivir of Gilead Sciences Inc. to fight against covid-19.
He also said that state United will receive 40% of the donation global of the pharmaceutical.
Gilead has promised to supply approximately 607,000 bottles of remdesivir in the next six weeks in state United, and the state health department will distribute doses to appropriate hospitals in their districts, HHS said.
The medicine of Gilead showed promise in helping patients infected with COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus of recent emergence, and the distribution of its limited supply is being closely watched.
Last Friday, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted an emergency approval for the use of the drug in patients with covid-19 severe, paving the way for wider use in more hospitals in the country.
