United States: “a catastrophe of astronomical proportions!”

The city of Boston had received nearly one foot of snow as of Thursday morning, but that hasn’t dampened the popularity of the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to Dr. Julien J. Cavanagh, who practices at Massachusetts General Hospital, the mobile app for making appointments was temporarily paralyzed due to traffic.

“It’s an application to make an appointment tomorrow morning and it collapsed on Wednesday evening because it was so popular,” he told LCN during the day.

Luckily for him, Dr Cavanagh had already confirmed his appointment and was given a dose of the vaccine.

“I was lucky, I had an appointment at 8:45 am. For now, health professionals potentially exposed to COVID on the floors (have priority) and since I give neurological opinions, I was eligible. “

The vaccine, as Dr Cavanagh argues, may represent “a moment of joy and a major scientific breakthrough”, the number of new cases in the United States is experiencing a staggering increase.

“We end up with nearly 250,000 new cases per day in the United States. There are 115,000 of my fellow Americans who are hospitalized and we are around 3,500 deaths per day.

“We are approaching 310,000 dead. It is a disaster of astronomical proportions. ”

Obviously, the festive period of American Thanksgiving, when airports and train stations were packed with people, largely contributed to the surge in cases.

“We pay for ‘Thanksgiving’ family gatherings. We expect another wave after the holidays if the Americans get together. ”

Will the health network hold up from coast to coast?

“I am very worried in more rural areas, where there are fewer resources and where it is more difficult to mobilize.”

Dr Cavanagh hopes that the change of presidency will allow a radical change in the situation and that the number of samples will increase.
