Al-Marsad newspaper: a court in Ras Al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates punished an employee (Arab citizen) after he continued to harass his colleague (Gulf citizen) and threatened to “expose her”.

According to the “Emirates Today” newspaper, an employee submitted a report to the police station stating that her colleague had been exposed to her by messages through an application, which included threatening statements against her and disclosure of dishonorable and considered arguments. if she did not consent to establish a relationship with him and marry him, as he sexually harassed her, further harassing her by following her by calling and texting her with the intent of making her respond to his wishes, as well as deliberately provoking her to annoy her by using communication devices.

The Court of First Instance sentenced the accused to one year in prison, and ordered his expulsion from the state after the execution of the sentence, the confiscation of the seized telephone and computer and the cancellation of the conversations in question, but the ‘defendant did not accept the verdict, so he filed an appeal against him, while his lawyer asked to inquire about the number and duration of calls exchanged between his client’s numbers and the victim, pointing to the contradiction of the statements of the victim, her lax complaint and lack of evidence against her client, and she demanded his innocence of what was attributed to him.

As a result, the Court of Appeal sentenced the accused to 3 months’ imprisonment and expulsion after the expiry of the sentence.
