United Airlines Partners with Eve Air Mobility to Launch Electric Flying Taxi to San Francisco

United Airlines has announced that it will fly its first electric plane to San Francisco. United is partnering with Eve Air Mobility to realize an ‘electric flying taxi’ that will fly commercially.

Summary detikcom, Sunday (18/6/2023) the two companies will work with local authorities and providers to bring the necessary infrastructure to launch electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in the region.

The aircraft offers United customers quicker, lower-carbon access to its central airports and offers new travel options in dense urban environments.

“Our shared goal is to provide efficient and cost competitive transportation for residents and visitors to the San Francisco Bay area in one of the most densely populated urban areas in the US,” said Eve co-CEO Andre Stein. Airport Technology.

The announcement of the route to San Francisco is the company’s second latest move following United’s $15 million investment into Eve last year, alongside a conditional purchase agreement for 200 eVTOL.

The eVTOL Eve aircraft is targeted to enter service in 2026 and will have a range of 60 miles (100 km). The aircraft will be piloted manually on launch and it is possible the company may offer unmanned operations in the future.

This electric air taxi promises its passengers to move faster, and bring more economic benefits. Starting from the basics, namely the infrastructure that supports the company’s operations.

As one of America’s largest airlines, United Airlines has a great responsibility to reduce its environmental impact. United became the first US airline to commit to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2050, then raised its target to 100%.
