Union praises companies for short-time work

The union of private employees, GPA-djp, praises the companies that do not put their employees in front of the door, but switch to short-time work. This is “a model instrument to secure as many jobs and the survival of companies as possible in this difficult time of the coronavirus crisis,” said GPA boss Barbara Teiber in a press release today.

“There is no reason not to use this model,” said Teiber. According to the union, it receives applications for short-time work “almost every minute”. “We deliberately want to put companies in front of the curtain that show a sense of responsibility for their employees in this difficult time,” said the managing director of GPA-djp, Karl Dürtscher.

Examples include Austrian Airlines, STRABAG, MORAWA, Promente Reha, Stadtwerke Judenburg, HTP Fohnsdorf, Sports Direct Liezen, Brauerei Murau, Engel Schwertberg, NKE Austria GmbH, MAN Truck & Bus Österreich GesmbH, Wiesner-Hager Möbel, HABAU, KTM AG, Heindl, Egger and Helnwein medical supply stores.
