Uniform rules for celebrations: Celebrations with a clear limit

Parties, baptisms, weddings – the Marburger Bund Doctors’ Association calls for nationwide uniform rules for celebrations. This is the only way to contain the risk of infection with a view to autumn.

The Marburger Bund Doctors’ Association calls for nationwide rules to be introduced for celebrations and parties. “In order to reduce the risk of infection in autumn and winter too, the countries should soon agree on uniform rules for private and public celebrations,” said Susanne Johna, chairwoman of the Funke media group’s newspapers.

Upper limits for guests and concepts for ventilation are important. The greater the number of people celebrating in closed rooms, the more likely a person is there who will infect the others. With the number of infections rising sharply, 150 guests at a family celebration or party are too many, warned Johna.

Don’t underestimate illness

Younger people in particular should be reminded to avoid the risk of infection. The association president also pointed out that the disease should not be underestimated. Even among those who are considered recovered after a Covid 19 illness, there is a not inconsiderable proportion who suffered from consequential damage.

Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) had previously pointed out that celebrations were among the greatest sources of danger in Germany, in addition to the infections caused by those returning from traveling. That’s why he wants to talk to the countries about the limits and rules for events.

Each federal state has its own rules

Currently the regulations in the individual federal states are very different. For example, while a wedding with a maximum of 100 people is allowed in Bavaria, private and public events of up to 1000 people are allowed in Brandenburg. In the past few weeks, local corona outbreaks have occurred again and again at celebrations.
