The employment agency recorded a late spring upswing in July. Youth unemployment has increased slightly.
The number of unemployed in Freiburg fell in July by three percent compared to June to 6741 people. That was almost 1,000 people or 12.8 percent fewer than in the same month last year. The unemployment rate in Freiburg fell slightly to 5.3 percent. The decline in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district is similar, where 4486 people, 2.6 percent fewer than in the previous month and 17.3 percent fewer than in the same month last year, are registered as unemployed. This puts the unemployment rate there at three percent. In the district of Emmendingen, which also belongs to the district of the Freiburg Employment Agency, 2,804 people are unemployed. This corresponds to a decrease of 0.3 percent compared to the previous month and of 14.4 percent compared to July 2020 – the unemployment rate is 2.9 percent.
While the unemployment rate has fallen in the three districts, youth unemployment rose slightly in the district of the Freiburg agency – which is typical for July. The good numbers are probably due to the fact that things are now being made up for, which was prevented in the spring by the corona measures, comments the chairman of the agency’s management, Andreas Finke.
