The construction site is due to start next September, in Saint-Ambroix, with a view to opening in 2025.
“The multidisciplinary health center (MSP) was until now supported by the municipality of Saint-Ambroix,” explains Mayor Jean-Pierre De Faria. “But as it is a real local health project, it seemed more relevant to us, with President Olivier Martin, to have it carried out by the community of communes of Cèze Cévennes.” In fact, the deliberation on the transfer of competence was taken in December, just before the holidays. “This project was unanimously voted for by the 23 mayors and the 39 com-com delegates, the success is total,” says Olivier Martin, who does not hide his satisfaction. “This health establishment will be multi-site. Concretely, caregivers will work throughout the territory, where the secondary medical centers are located. Bessèges, Gagnières, Molières and Barjac will benefit from the services of the MSP.”
2,000 m2 of building to accommodate caregivers
“There will be real complementarity. The MSP is a driving force for regional planning in the face of the decline in healthcare provision in the municipality and overall in our sector,” adds the mayor of Saint-Ambroix. The project schedule has already been set. “We launch the calls for tenders in March, and in June, we begin preparing the site so that we are actually ready to start in September,” explains Olivier Martin. The work is expected to last approximately one year. “Delivery of the 2,000 m2 building dedicated to care is scheduled for October 2025.”
Liberal doctors adopted the project
Today, all partners have been identified. Everyone signed. The plans are completed, and the locations of the various services are determined. “We are full, and we are even starting to run out of space.” “On the ground floor, we find the analysis laboratory, Labosud, as well as two studios for doctors on call or interns in training,” explains the president of Cèze Cévennes. “The Medico-Psychological Center (CMP) for adults and children of the Alès hospital is planned on the first floor. Two private doctors’ offices will complete the space with a secretariat, consultation offices… We have found the doctors . So, yes, it is possible to bring them in. You still need to have a project that will appeal to them…” The association of godmothers, of Molières, specializing in breast cancer, has asked to benefit from a local. “It’s an association that is growing and with which we have a close relationship. It’s very good that we can find 30 m2 for them on this floor.” On the next floor, the dialysis center will be installed. “We had to fight to get it, but we got there,” says Jean-Pierre De Faria.
An economically viable project
The largest part, on the 3rd floor, is dedicated to the establishment of Filieris, the health group closely linked to the history of mining. It is also on this floor that many private practices will be located, with various specialists: podiatrist, psychologist, speech therapist, nursing office, etc.
From a financial point of view, the project, as it was set up, is viable. “The credits will be covered by rents, even taking at least subsidies from various partners. As planned, we are guaranteed to achieve balance,” assure the mayors. “The project is valued at €5.20 million including tax. This is a successful operation after several years of work and preparation.”
At a time when numerous rumors are reporting a possible attachment of the community of communes of Cèze Cévennes to Alès Agglomération, the two elected officials wonder: “We can wonder if this project could have seen the light of day, if we was absorbed by the agglomeration of Alès. Other location choices could have been made. We can clearly see that, in our territory, this achievement mobilizes everyone and benefits everyone. It was voted unanimously , I remind you”, supports the mayor of Gagnières.
