Undeclared tons of cereals | The AFIP detected trucks transporting grains without registration

The AFIP seized more than 140 tons of corn in Santa Fe, within the framework of different operations in which they detected that the grains were transported with false documentation. The value of the interdicted merchandise is around 6.8 million pesos, the agency detailed. National and local security forces participated in the operations, carried out through the General Tax Directorate.

On the Rosario-Buenos Aires highway, agency personnel led by Carlos Castagneto, together with the National Gendarmerie, stopped a truck with 48 tons of corn that came from the province of Córdoba. The inspectors found that the delivery note displayed by the driver stated that the load was half of what was actually transferred.

“In addition, both the issuer and the recipient of the merchandise were operators without economic capacity to carry out the grain marketing operation,” the AFIP specified. As a result of this irregularity, the entire grain was seized, which the AFIP valued at 2.3 million pesos and which will remain in a store in the town of Arroyo Seco until its true origin is verified.

On the other hand, on a route near the city of San Cristóbal in Santa Fe, AFIP agents carried out a procedure jointly with the local Road Safety Police during which they seized another 94 tons of corn that were being transported irregularly in two trucks.

The merchandise, valued at 4.5 million pesos, “circulated without its corresponding electronic bill of lading, so it is presumed that it had a dubious origin,” the agency said.

The AFIP assured that “through these actions, the specialized areas of the DGI focus their efforts to dismantle potential tax evasion maneuvers and guarantee compliance with current regulations to prevent the different actors in the chain from committing irregularities that result in competition unfair to legitimate producers”.
