The United Nations condemned the raids launched by the Sudanese army on populated areas, killing at least twenty-two people. The UN Deputy Spokesperson, Irfan Haq, expressed his condolences to the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The United Nations said that there are reports indicating widespread violations against the local population in the Darfur region, pointing to the expansion of combat operations between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in the regions of Kordofan and Blue Nile.

On the other hand, violent clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were renewed in areas south of Khartoum on Sunday morning.

Eyewitnesses reported that the army bombed positions of the Rapid Support Forces in the Kalalakla area, in addition to the warplanes flying over the area.

Politically, informed sources confirmed to the BBC the arrival of the second commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Rahim Dagalo, to the Chadian capital, N’Djamena.

She said that Dagalo will meet a number of leaders of the armed factions in Darfur, who have actually arrived in Chad at the invitation of its president, Mohamed Idris Deby. The sources indicated that the N’Djamena meeting will discuss stopping the fighting in Darfur, as well as ways to stop the war in Sudan.

The head of the Sudan Liberation Movement, the governor of the Darfur region, Minni Arko Minawi, the head of the Justice and Equality Movement, Jibril Ibrahim, and members of the Sovereignty Council, Al-Hadi Idris and Al-Taher Hajar, will participate in the meeting.
